History of the Nacoba Awards

The purpose of the NACOBA Awards is to recognise old students and staff, past and present, dead or alive, who have made significant achievements in society, and whose accomplishments, affiliations and careers have honoured the Namilyango College core values of: honesty and integrity, innovation, respect for human dignity, Christ-centered holistic formation, and excellence.

On review of the Namilyango College centennial celebrations, at their meeting on March 20, 2003, the NACOBA Executive Committee resolved to recognise and award outstanding persons of the Namilyango College Community (minute 6.6). An Awards Committee, headed by Edward Ddamulira Muguluma (Campling, 1955-1960), was set up to help with the implementation.

The NACOBA Awards are now part of the NACOBA Calendar and takes place biennially. The next Awards dinner will be held on the 1st of August 2025. The Award categories have been increased in number, from six (6) to eight (8) to remove ambiguities as well further inclusion especially in terms of the age group of old boys being recognized and awarded.

NEXT year, we shall recognize old boys who have made significant contributions to our alma mater, country & communities as well as personal accomplishments in their careers, grouped under the following categories:
